The multicultural challenge
Intermediando 2008, which is being held in the year dedicated to intercultural dialogue in Europe, will focus on the theme of multiculturalism. The mass media occupies a key role in today’s pluralist society and has a huge influence on our actions. It can either be an agent of intercultural mediation or else it can contribute to increasing divisions and suppressing diversity. The theme of multiculturalism will be developed according to three areas: economics, politics and formation. The daily program will start off with a plenary session (2 hours). Experts will present a global vision for each reality in which young people work. This will be followed by a dialogue session. The rest of the day will devoted to four workshops of interest: Publications, Film & Television (documentary and drama), Information Technology & the New Media, Marketing & Public Relations.
In the afternoon there will be a visit to RAI television, Cinecittà and other studios. There will be ample opportunity for private talks geared towards professional orientation. The course will be conducted in Italian and English. Cost: 350 euros (includes meals and accommodation)

The second Intermediando seminar, aimed at the formation of young people involved in the communications media, will be held between 10-14 September 2008 in Ciampino (Rome).
