NetOne <\/strong>launched a series of training workshops on climate governance analysis concepts and tools on Saturday, August 12, 2023 in Ouagadougou.<\/p>\nThe training, aimed at journalists and broadcasters in Burkina Faso, focused on “media and climate governance.”<\/strong>
\nLazare Doulcom, director of publications at Envirinfos, welcomed journalists and communicators saying that “in this war against climate change, the knowledge gained during this workshop will benefit our country and the whole world.”<\/em>
\nKiemtore No\u00ebl, coordinator of NetOne in Burkinafaso<\/strong>, expounded on the importance of dialogue<\/strong>, NetOne being a space for dialogue without borders where professional experiences, cultural insights, training paths, actions and projects can be shared, for media communication that arouses fraternity.<\/p>\nJournalists and communicators were equipped with the vocabulary of climate change as part of this training course on “media and climate governance.” There were more than 20 of them, said trainer Athanase P\u00e9l\u00e9ga Kinda.
\nAccording to the organizers of this training course, in the face of climate change, the mobilization of all countries and key actors is necessary if significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are to be achieved at all levels.
\nThis is the prerequisite for limiting temperature increase to 2\u00b0C or even 1.5\u00b0C by 2100, as stated in the Paris Climate Agreement.<\/p>\n

The training included both presentations and group exercises. According to Athanase P\u00e9l\u00e9ga Kinda, taking climate governance into account involves a number of processes.
\n“One has to consider the location and period of implementation of the framework that will result from the analysis; identify the types of governance (administrative, political, local, economic, etc.); make an option for a given governance; and identify the key components or exposure units of that governance”<\/em> he said.
\nAlthough these processes of taking climate governance into account require methodologies, he still recognized that media practitioners are a prime source for communicating with the public in order to achieve the goals set against climate change.
\n“Adaptation and GHG emission reduction goals cannot be achieved without the media, which is a key channel for reaching the masses,”<\/em> he stressed.<\/p>\nThrough this workshop, media practitioners will now act as national and international speakers to promote the fight against climate change.<\/p>\n
Lazare Doulcom, director of Envirinfos, said he was pleased with the training offered to journalists and communicators in the “war against climate change.”<\/p>\n
