Humans by Choice: Authenticity, Knowledge, and Responsibility

The online course “Humans by Choice: Authenticity, Knowledge, and Responsibility” is a training initiative focused on the ethical analysis of artificial intelligence. Its main objective is to provide tools to navigate the current technological landscape in light of the European AI Act and Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical Magnifica Humanitas. The program is aimed at young people aged 18 to 25 and their leaders from youth groups in various European countries, with no prior technical prerequisites required. Future editions of the course are planned for other continents.
The educational program offers a participatory learning experience that begins with everyday experiences with AI, moves on to theory, and helps develop a critical and responsible mindset. Each session is structured in two parts: an opening presentation by an expert who raises key questions on the topic, followed by small-group workshops for discussion and collaborative problem-solving. The program awards a certificate of participation for 10 hours (6 hours of webinars, 2 hours of presentations, and 2 hours of practical work on group projects), designed to ensure that young people take the lead in the initiative.
The program consists of three virtual sessions on Saturdays, November 7, 14, and 21, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Italian time), with simultaneous translation into Spanish, Portuguese, English, Italian, and French. The presentations will address human authenticity in the face of AI with Marta and Miguel Oliveira Panão (Nov. 7), information and the construction of knowledge with José Manuel Pérez Tornero (Nov. 14), and the eco-sustainability of AI with Antonio López (Nov. 21), coordinated by Luciano Di Mele and Isabel Gatti. The event is sponsored by NetOne, New Humanity (Focolare Movement), and the European Union. It is supported by EcoOne and Edu. For more information, visit netone.org.ar. To register,
